Humber College Building L

MULTI MEDIA CENTRE, Heritage Site Humber Lakeshore

Challenge was to address the sloping site that varied 6’ from North to South. The college wanted to connect the new building to the existing pedestrian  walkways.  As a result, Building L unifies the site and circulation and has become a major hub of student gatherings.

Located on a Heritage Site surrounded by Cottages from the 1800s, Building L had to be sensitive to the existing materials  and site.  Massing, materials etc. had to be carefully thought out.

FOLLIS RESIDENCE

Infill lots and densification in Toronto

This project is a perfect example of a much needed approach to lot densification where lack of housing is an issue, lots are small and antiquated zoning does not support families to grow in their current homes. Instead, we often see them leave urban centers and move to the suburbs due to the lack of appropriate housing. This project takes an interesting approach to a tight lot, zoning, and a need for new approaches to infill urban lots, that are appropriate. This house was renovated to support their future family.

Mixed Used Development

Due to the extensive redevelopment of the existing city transportation infrastructure, the design was met with a very challenging 8m grade topography change from one end of the site to the other. Slated to be the epicenter of an incoming technology boom, the dense mixed use development has 3 phases with 4 residential towers, a large retail/commercial component as well as office space and a heritage preservation component.
